Miriam S Byrd

     Miriam Savell Byrd, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 17, 2022.

     She was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1994. Miriam is preceded in death by her father, William C. Savell and mother, Jetta Savell Hutchinson; her brother Preston Savell (Sonny)  and Warren Savell (Butch); her husband, Paul DeVaughn Byrd of 59 years. She is survived by daughter; Paula B. Howell (Rick); daughter; Stacy Breeden (Vance); and son; David D. Byrd (Kim); brother; Willam Savell (Bill); Sister-In-Laws; Majorie Duprey and Shirley Kendrick; grandchildren; Chelsea Howell (Sam); Corey Howell; Shaquille Howell; Ty Breeden (Emily); Cecili Breeden (Patrick); Caleb Byrd (Chloe); great grandchildren; Sylvia Harding; Emmerson Byrd; Austin Byrd; Eleanor Breeden; Kenaw; Elijah. Many nieces and nephews.

     A special celebration of her life will be held at Kent Forest Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, with Dr. Bruce Barton officiating. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 11:00 am. and the funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Kent Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

     Miriam transferred in 1958 to Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband’s job with Independent Life Insurance. While in Tennessee, Miriam worked for Jim Cogdill Dodge as a bookkeeper. All three of their children were born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. Both Paul and Miriam were avid fans of Tennessee Volunteers.

     Once settled back in Panama City, Miriam went to work for Tommy Thomas Car Dealership as a bookkeeper. She retired in 2014. She lost her husband Paul in April of 2016.

In 2021, Miriam returned to Knoxville, Tennessee to be with her children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She resided. with her son, David and wife Kim. She passed away peacefully in hospice at her son’s home.

     Active Pallbearers will be David Byrd, Corey Howell, Sam Harding, Rick Brockman, Bill Crittenden, Bruce Barton .
