MOSELL WASHINGTON, JR.
Mosell "Mo" Washington, Jr., 75, of Panama City Beach, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. A native of Union Springs, AL, Mo served in the USAF for 26 years, retiring as MSGT. After his military career, Mo obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from Florida State University, working as Director of Human Resources and retiring after 21 years service at Gulf Coast State College. He was an avid golfer and lover of Jazz music, and did live sports broadcast for women's and men's basketball while working at GCSC. After his retirement, he hosted a Jazz show on WKGC. Mo also volunteered as a drug abuse counselor at the Keeton House, and was a board member of BASIC of NW Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda S. Washington; children, Robyn Barriffee and husband Earl, Anna King, Jessica Stage and husband Chris and Hunter Reeves and wife Ashleigh; his brother, Tom Washington and wife Sheila; grandchildren, Michael Chester, Brittany Nikolai and husband Bojan, Mallory Brown and Nathan Jackson; great-grandchildren, Hendrix Chester and Nolan Garcia; and nieces, Michele Coleman, Sherita Mayes, Toya Washington and Ebony Washington.
A Celebration of Life service for Mo will be held at 6:00 pm Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Powell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until service time at 6:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Covenant Care or to the Gulf Coast State College Foundation to benefit WKGC, 5230 W. Highway 98, Panama City, FL 32401, www.gcscfoundation.org/memorials/ in memory of Mosell Washington.
