Dr. Robert “Bob” E. Boyer, USAF, ret., of Lynn Haven, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 80. Bob was born April 20, 1939 in Turner Station, KY to Robert Brent and Doris (Elston) Boyer who preceded him in death. Bob is a retired United States Air Force Colonel who served his country for over 25 years. He is a Vietnam War Veteran and retired in 1986 at Tyndall Air Force Base. He spent his civilian career working fifteen years as a Senior Regional Civil Engineer with the Asphalt Institute and then privately as a consultant engineer specializing in airport pavements. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a life member of Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), and a member of the American Association of Asphalt Technologists (AAPT). Bob was united in marriage in 1959 to his loving wife of 60 years, Sue Carol who resides in Lynn Haven. He is also survived by his children, Mark Boyer of Panama City and Cindy (David) Doll of Lynn Haven; his five grandchildren, Chantel Boyer (fiancé, Luke Rohowetz), Shannon (J.B.) McLendon, Marisa (Alex) Booty, Britney (Curran) Kuehl and Tyler Doll; his three sisters, Peggy (John Thomas) Self, Pam (John) Ball and Midge (George) Cox; his sister-in-law, Barbara Boyer; numerous nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, Kyann. Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Marion Ballard Boyer. Friends will be received from 10-11 am Tuesday at the Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Panama City Beach where funeral services will take place that morning at 11 am. A Celebration of Life will follow the funeral service at the fellowship hall. Entombment will take place privately at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Humane Society of Bay County.
