COL. ROBERT SHIELDS JOHNSON, USAF, ret.

Col. Robert Shields Johnson, USAF, ret, age 90, of Lynn Haven, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019. Col. Johnson was born in Hampton, VA, and lived in Bay County for the last 33 years. Col. Johnson spent 30 years in the US Air Force, serving as a jet fighter pilot. During his service in Vietnam, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit with 1 Device, Meritorious Service Medal, 16 Air Medals, and many other awards and achievements. After his retirement from service, Col Johnson enjoyed traveling, volunteering and playing golf with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Aileen Johnson.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Johnson (Betty) of Saipan and Robert Johnson of Houston, TX; a sister, Carolyn Johnson Lingenfelser of Hampton, VA; and his three grandchildren, Kathleen, Sarah and Andrew.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Forest Park United Methodist Church. Col. Johnson and his beloved wife will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Col. Johnson's name.
