Robert Berry Piner of Panama City, Florida returned to his Heavenly Father the evening of July 20, 2018.
He was a community member with this wife Delores Piner since 1990.
He married Miriam Perks Piner in 1943 in Wyandotte, Michigan.
They had and are survived by their three children. Patricia Lynn Schapaugh (Randy) of Michigan, Robert Gary Piner (Charlee) of Utah, and Cheryl Elaine Sharpe (Fred) of Alabama; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Many wonderful family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and Bill.
On April 10, 2004, he was fortunate to find love again and married Delores Habdas. They traveled extensively, and enjoyed many years of laughter, new experiences, places and fun together.
This wonderful union brought Delores’s daughters, Janice Traczyk, and Donna Baber their combined five children and two great-grandchildren into the family.
Dad served during WW 11 and was a surviving member of the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated accordingly. He was very proud of his service. Bob spent more than a year in military hospitals during his recovery.
He graduated from Muncie Indianan Teachers college. Taught for a very short period and eventually hired on at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn Michigan as a comptroller. He received a letter most recently from the President of Fords acknowledging his Ford family membership for over 70 years of their 150 years in existence.
We wish to thank the staff at St Andrews Hospital, their tenderness and care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday 28,2018. At the Kent-Forest Lawn Home Chapel. This will be a closed casket, brief service with Rev. Henry Hazard officiating.
