Rose Chaknis, three weeks shy of her 103rd birthday, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024.
She lived in Bay County, Florida for 49 years.
Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in New York City, raised her family in New Jersey, then moved to Panama City in 1975, and Lynn Haven in 1996. She worked for many years at Miracle Strip Amusement Park, served as a volunteer usher at the Panama City Marina Civic Center and danced with the Silver Liners dance group, all well into her 70’s.
She was Catholic by faith.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Nicholas Chaknis, her parents and brother, Anthony.
She is survived by her children, Paul Chaknis, Maria McKinney (Rick), Anthony Chaknis (Pat), Amy Hoyt (Robert) as well as six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Craig Brannon officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery following a vehicle procession past Rose's Lynn Haven home.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Emerald Shores Nursing Facility and Emerald Coast Hospice for the loving care they provided Rose in her final days.
