ROY MICHAEL "MIKE" DALTON
Roy Michael “Mike” Dalton, aged 80, passed away peacefully at home Jan 6,2021, following a lengthy illness. Mike was born in Bedford Indiana to Roy and Wilma June Dalton who were waiting in heaven to receive their firstborn. Mike married his first wife Sharon and they raised 2 children in Lawrence County Indiana. The union didn’t survive, but Mike was extremely proud of how his kids turned out in spite of it.
Mike worked 30 years as a skilled tradesman for General Motors, was a proud member of the local UAW and “retired” to Panama City Beach after years of dreaming. He loved traveling the US and made time for a lot of it between jobs. In Florida he worked in sales, factory, irrigation and landscaping, lawn and rental management, cashiering at Miniature Golf facilities and finally found his dream job environment at Holiday Golf Club. He loved his co-workers, playing in league and playing with golf balls all day. He worked there until 2018 when his health and Hurricane Michael sent him home.
Mike was always an athlete, playing basketball, baseball, softball, tennis and golf and loved supporting IU basketball and Nascar Racing. He also thought cable television was one of mankind’s greatest achievements.
Mike was kind, sensitive, generous and loyal and he will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Karen, daughter Dr Lori (William) Campbell, son Michael (Amy), Grandchildren Rachel, Will and Logan, his Combs in-laws, his nieces, and neighborhood friends. No services at this time, a celebration of life will be held in the future in Indiana
