Royce C. Bryan
August 4th, 1930- January 6th, 2022
Retired Chief Master Sergeant Royce C. Bryan age 91, of Panama City Fl. passed away peacefully Thursday, January 6th 2022 at his home. Royce was born August 4th 1930 in Sylvester Georgia the son of the late Gula and Janie Bryan. He spent his younger years in South Georgia before his family moved to Panama City in the early 1940’s.
Royce enlisted in the US Army/Air Force in December of 1946 and retired in July 1976 after 30 years of service. His decorations include the Bronze Star, The Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and numerous other service awards. Royce was also recognized for his outstanding service during the Berlin Airlift by the Mayor of Berlin Germany in 1949. Royce was a proud Master Mason of the Parker Lodge 142, and was a member of the Masons since 1958.
After retiring Royce became an expert at the buy/sell trade. He excelled at buying used tools and fishing gear, reconditioning, and reselling them. For entertainment Royce enjoyed playing cards at the local AMVETS Post 2298 in Callaway where he had many wonderful friends. Winning hands of Poker were common for Royce, he had a photographic memory for the card game allowing him to recall winning card hands months after he counted his winnings.
Royce was preceded in death by his wife Tina Bryan with whom he was married 59 years, daughter Lyn Bryan Owens and brothers Eldred and Larry Bryan. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Dillon (Hall) and Elaine Bowers (Dave); two sons, Blake Bryan (Laura) and Don Bryan, sister Annette Armstrong; six grandchildren, Brooke, Halle, Elizabeth, Alexander, Colin and Jake; three great grandchildren, Josh, Dillon and Lee.
Royce’s family gives a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Josten and his staff; Monica, Ebony and the staff of Bay Medical Cafeteria; and the Doctors, Nurses and Technicians of Bay Medical Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday January 18th 2022 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Ave. Panama City, FL., with visitation one hour prior to services. Internment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. It will be live streamed at www.kentforestlawn.com. Wearing of Masks is requested. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wonderful people at Covenant Care Hospice at 107 W. 19th St, Panama City , FL 32405.
