Rozier “Lanier” Collins

October 17th, 1943 – February 18th, 2024

Rozier “Lanier” Collins, age 80, of Panama City, FL, passed away on February 18th, 2024.

Lanier was born in Panama City, FL, on October 17th,1943 to Rozier and Cora Lee Collins.

Lanier lived a long happy life surrounded by his loving family. He graduated from Bay High School where he was voted most likely to succeed and he did. Lanier continued his education with an apprenticeship for three years. He went on to start a career as a Welder for Plumbers and Steamfitters’ Local Union 234, where he would travel all around Florida working on exciting projects. Lanier was a proud member of his church; he loved to sing praise in the church choir and blessed the congregation with many solos. He made sure church was accessible to the youth of Panama City by taking part of the bus ministry. Lanier loved the water in all forms. He enjoyed riding out to Shell Island on his pontoon boat and floating in the waves of the ocean. He loved to fish in the bay and come home at the end of the day to a big fish fry. Lanier always loved the outdoors. He would enjoy long bike rides through many trails with anyone in the family who would ride a bike with him. Above all Lanier enjoyed his and Gayle’s Garden and loved his tomatoes the most. Lanier took huge delight in traveling with his loving wife of 56 years. They would take an annual trip to Gatlinburg TN for his birthday to celebrate. It was one of their favorite places to visit to see the leaves change color. Lanier always believed that his biggest achievement was providing for his wife, daughter, and grandchildren.

Lanier is predeceased by his father, Rozier Collins and mother, Cora Lee Collins. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Collins, daughter Holly Collins, and two grandchildren, Blake and Brooke. As well as his brothers Rev Richard [Jeanie] Collins and Tracy [Deborah] Collins.
