Russell Lee Mathis Sr

Russell Lee Mathis, Sr., 66, of Panama City, passed away March 14, 2023, at a local hospital. Russell was born at Tyndall AFB, FL, and was a life-long resident of Bay County. He worked in the construction field for 36 years as a concrete finisher. Russell’s hobbies included playing golf and working crossword puzzles.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Wayne, Sr., and Betty Jean Mathis.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janice Wood Mathis; 2 sons, Russell Lee Mathis, Jr., and wife Jill and Kevin Aaron Mathis. 1 brother, Bobby Wayne Mathis, Jr; 2 sisters. Sylvia Walsingham and Diane Mathis (Butch Holley); a granddaughter, Carly May Mathis; and one great-grandson, Carson Payne; and his loving fur baby, Grace.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time at 1:00.
