Sara Alice Brown Carithers Harris

Sara Alice Brown Carithers Harris, age 85, passed away February 16, 2021, at her home.  She was born in Panama City, FL, to the late Charles and Ida Victoria Brown.  Sara was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest Brown and Edward Brown, her sisters, Ophelia Merchant, Mizelle Ritchie, and Myron Davis, and her two loving husbands, Tommy Ray Carithers and Robert Harris.  Sara’s mother died when she was very young, and she was raised by Myron and David Davis, who loved her dearly and provided a stable home and beautiful childhood.  Sara graduated from Bay High School and was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she taught in numerous positions. She had a deep love for her family and leaves a wonderful legacy and many cherished memories to her children, Gregory (Diann) Carithers of Fairhope, AL, Randy (Virginia) Carithers of Mobile, AL, Renee (Mark) Mercer of Panama City, Roberta (Scott) Woodward of Fort Pierce, FL, Al (Martha) Harris of Panama City, and Bobby (Cindy) Harris of Griffin, GA; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and special niece, who was more like a sister, Sherry Davis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Sara cherished her faith and her family above all else and leaves an indelible mark on those who knew her best.  She will be greatly and deeply missed. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday, February 22, 2021, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.  Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Immanuel Baptist Church Food Pantry.
