Sherrill Roberta Stone Timm, 84, died peacefully at her home in Panama City, Fla., on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, with her beloved husband, Charles, at her side.
Born Sept. 15, 1936, in Jackson, Mich., to Dorothy Rosalia Collia Stone and Henry John Solecki, Sherrill had four siblings, Pat, Jackie, Danny and Mike.
After graduating Sexton High School in Lansing, Mich., in 1954, Sherrill went to work for Michigan Bell where she met Charles. They were married on Aug. 1, 1959, and moved to Delta Township. Sherrill became a homemaker and mother to Beth, Michelle, John and Henry, and she was active in her children’s lives as a Girl Scout troop leader and a PTA and school volunteer.
After Charles retired early from the phone company, he and Sherrill moved their permanent residence to Panama City while spending summers at their cottage on Crooked Lake in Michigan.
Sherrill became active, alongside her husband, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Habitat for Humanity of Bay County.
She was a devoted grandmother to Mary and Kellye Owen; Keith and Kenneth Merryfield and Kari Miller; Danielle, Mikayla and Leah Timm; and Sophia and Genevieve Timm.
Sherrill is survived by all of her grandchildren, as well as her husband of 61 years, and her four children and their spouses: Beth and Dale Owen of Grand Ledge, Mich.; Michelle and Keith Merryfield of Lyons, Mich.; John Timm of Vernon; and Henry Timm and Cherie Hicks of Panama City; four great-grandchildren, Elliott Merryfield, Josh Dukes, and Adalyn and Nathan Miller; one brother, Mike Stone, and his wife, Sue, of Mesquite, Nev.; her friend of 60-plus years, Rosemary Borchert of Houghton Lake, Mich.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; and, many caring neighbors, including Fran and Mike Coyne and Sherrill and Bob Bondeson. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jenny Timm.
A mass for Sherrill is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1008 Fortune Ave., Panama City. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. She will be interred at Evergreen Memorial Gardens following a brief service.
