Joseph T. Phaneuf III of Panama City, FL passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at home after battling cancer for more than 2 ½ years. He was surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born July 20, 1964 in Jacksonville, FL. He loved sports and was a little league baseball all star and mvp player and enjoyed skate boarding, surfing, running marathons and anything outdoors. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA in 1982 and worked in construction until he joined the Air Force in 1987. He proudly served his country for 23 years retiring in 2010 as a Senior Master Sergeant and earning his bachelors degree in computer science. He then continued to serve by working with the Air Force as a government contractor until his death. Joe will be remembered for his kind, loving heart and his wonderful sense of humor. He loved laughter and was always the life of a party. He was an amazing father and husband. Joe was always looking for an adventure and loved to travel, spend time with his family and go for long rides on his Harley. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Dana Phaneuf; sons, Cody Day, Tyler Phaneuf and Logan Phaneuf; mother Pegge Phillips (Walter); father, Joseph Phaneuf II (Michaela); siblings, Tim Phaneuf (Colleen), Teresa Gelormini (Fran) and Trisha Phaneuf (Don Huntley) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held on Saturday November 23, 2019 at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home 2403 Harrison Ave Panama City, FL. Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm and the service will begin at 2pm with a reception to follow. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Throat Cancer Foundation, Head and Neck Cancer Alliance, The American Cancer Society or any other cancer organization.
