Walter Critten Hollinger, age 81, of Panama City, FL, passed away on November 28, 2023. He was born to the late Walter James Hollinger, of Goodway, Alabama and Azalene (Finkley) Hollinger, of Milton, Florida, on November 24, 1942, in Repton, Alabama.

Walter attended Rosenwald High School until 1961 and later enlisted into the U.S. Army in June 1961. He served at Fort Hood, Texas; U.S. Army base and Fort Sill, Oklahoma; (U.S. Army Coros) and in Vietnam. He received the following awards: Marksman (Pistol); Sharpshooter (rifle M-14); 1st Class Gnr (3.5 RL) and Marksman (Bar Cal 30).

Walter worked with his father for many years as a brick mason. He also worked for Bay Line for 20 years and Rail Switching Service until he retired from the railroad industry.

Walter enjoyed many activities which included all sports, fishing, listening to music, and spending quality time with family and close friends. He loved travel, meeting new people, relaxing, and telling stories. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. He loved God and was always found encouraging others to do the same.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents: Azalene and Walter James Hollinger and step mother, Emily Hollinger. Sisters: Carolyn Goodman; Mary Alice Hollinger; Katie Williams; and Barbara Williams. Brothers: James Hollinger and George Woodbury.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 42 years, Diane Hollinger. His 3 children: Carol Hollinger; Tulisia Hollinger; and Marcus (Frances) Hollinger. Grandchildren: Symone Hines; Alexis Steele; Idalis Woods; Walter McCloud; Tony McCloud; Royale Hollinger; Ramona Hollinger and Simeon Hollinger. Great-grandchildren: Sandro Cameron; Sundrea Cameron; Samara Steele; and Ariel Steele. Siblings: Linda Branch; Melvin (Cynthia) Hollinger; Gloria Hollinger; Jacqueline Hollinger; and Michael (Vanessa) Hollinger. Aunt: Cornelius (Hollinger) Ricketts and Uncle: Henry “Jack” Hollinger, as well as, numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service will be conducted on December 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., at High Praise Worship Center, 7124 Hwy. 22, Callaway, FL. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Service. All military honors will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery following the Service.
