Wheeler McDuffie Taylor, 79, of Panama City Beach, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Wheeler was born in Semmes, AL, and had lived in Bay County since 1982, coming here from Ft. Polk, LA. He was a retired MSG, serving 23 years in the US Army as an air traffic controller and Vietnam veteran. After his military service, Wheeler worked 15 years as a correction officer at the Northwest Florida Reception Center. He was a member of the DAV and VFW, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Rodrigues; his son, Richard Thomas Taylor; and a grandson, Anthony Nunez.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ursula; his daughter, Angela Adams of Fountain; his former son-in-law, Bobby Adams of Fountain; sisters, Betty Ann Ward of Montgomery, AL and Carol Sue Spencer and husband Spence of Mobile, AL; a brother, Ronnie Reed of Mobile; grandson Jessie Windham; and great grandchildren Jasmine and Zachary.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Arch and Cross Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors offered by the US Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
