Reverend William Charles (Bill) Kundo, 69, of Panama City, Florida, passed away November 20, 2019. He was born December 26, 1949 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Peggy Rhodes Kundo; sons, Jonathan Scott Kundo (Wendy), Charles Matthew Kundo (Rachel), and Philip Andrew Kundo; daughter, Jodi Lynn Johnson (Jim); mother, Idella; siblings, Beth Ann Leuchtmann (Steve); Becky Sue Terry (Tim); and grandchildren, Olivia Kundo, Weston Kundo, Sophie Kundo, Max Johnson, Kyra Traxler, and Ivory Traxler. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Carl Kundo, and son, William Charles Kundo Jr.

Bill was loved and appreciated by his family and friends. As a young person and throughout his life, he enjoyed being involved in community activities and achieving goals. As a youth in Boy Scouts, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as a Boy Scout leader.

He began his military career in 1968 ultimately serving in the U. S. Army and U.S. Navy. During his military assignments, he served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic in Vietnam where he earned the Purple Heart. He also served as an Unrestricted Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy on the USS Moinester, USS Coronado, USS LaSalle, and USS Shenandoah in the Persian Gulf.

In 1976, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Biomedical Ethics), Bachelor of Arts in Biology, and Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Incarnate Word College, San Antonio, Texas. In 1989, he earned a Master of Divinity at Boston University and, in 1996, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Troy State University at Dothan, Alabama.

He was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church in the Virginia Conference in 1989 and later transferred to the Alabama West Florida Conference where he served in churches throughout the conference until his retirement.

He most recently worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Nation’s Best Family Health Care.

Bill was a member of Capeville Masonic Lodge 107 in Virginia and St. Andrew Masonic Lodge 212 in Panama City. He was current and past Worthy Patron of St. Andrew Chapter 223, Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the local Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 794.

Funeral services will be held on November 25, 2019 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Avenue, Panama City, Florida, with Reverend David Willis officiating and Reverend John Blount assisting. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Charles Kundo, Jonathan Kundo, Philip Kundo, Craig Riley, Steven Riley, and Alex Terry.
