WINFRED ALMANZO CHILDS

Winfred A. Childs, 95, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at his home. Winfred was born in New York, and lived in Panama City since moving here from Pascagoula, MS in 1972. He was a talented mechanic and carpenter, and built the home he lived in. Winfred was a US Army veteran of WWII, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Bernice Childs of Panama City; his daughters, Pat Carter and husband Larry of Hartford, AL, Joan Sewell and her late husband Eddie of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Joy Lathem of Panama City; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 4, 2020, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mick Gardener officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Chapel from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Emerald Coast Hospice in Mr. Childs' name.
