Karen Kay Fader, 62 of Alford, FL, passed away December 16, 2017 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna. Karen was born March 7, 1955 in Ft. Worth, TX to Duane and Gloria (Andrews) Rix and moved to Alford in 1997 coming from South Florida. Karen is a graduate of Chipola State College and a member of its Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She is a Registered Professional Guardian and owned the Guardian Group in Marianna, FL. She is a past Community Relations Coordinator at the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management and former Congressional Affairs Specialist at FEMA Federal Emergency Management. Karen was also active civically as a member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Elks BPOE and American Legion, Post #100, Kiwanis, Optimist, all of Marianna. She was united in marriage on September 18, 1988 to her husband, Bill who resides in Alford. Karen is also survived by her mother, Gloria Adams; children, Floye (Kelly) Powers, Roseanna “Deedle” Powers, Michael, Herb and Frank Raysin and Michele Frey; her siblings, Bunnie, Laura, Cindy, Jason, Jonathon, and Benjamin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah, Jaeme, Floye, Ashley, Michael and Orivan as well as her great-grandchildren, Jaelynne & Link. Memorial services will be held 3pm Friday at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Friends will be received that afternoon from 2-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guardianship Group, Marianna, FL.
